Dark Night of the Soul

The journey called the “Dark Night of the Soul” is not a punishment. It is sort of a test to get you to the next level. It’s a way to get in your face, and get you to grow. Sometimes its relationships, money, jobs, housing dramas. The gifts you receive after this journey can almost seem like you’ve won the lottery.

It is a way to get you to release things, jobs, people who are no longer a match to where you are heading. This is not a judgement against those things. It’s about you growing as a person. Sometimes its about the “Shadow Work.” What exactly does that mean? It’s about taking back your personal power and not being a door mat to other people. It’s about respecting boundaries. It’s about not rescuing everyone from themselves.

It’s also about facing your dragons, demons that you’ve created for yourself. This is not about putting yourself in dangerous situations. Although, some people constantly do this and are some how oblivious to the consequences. This is about making peace with yourself. If there are things about yourself that you want to change then here is your opportunity. If there are things that others don’t like about you. You need to decide if you like or don’t like that about yourself. Everyone has a light, grey and dark side to them. This is just who we are as a whole. No one is a saint!

So as you hit rock bottom, take time to reflect and see what areas of your life you’re at peace with? Sometimes these changes come from the result of a divorce. Take responsibility for those things that are yours. The rest, let it go! Things happen to people all the time. It’s not because people are good or bad that stuff happens. So don’t judge yourself or others.

Are You In The Right Gear?

Bringing in the life you want can be like driving a stick shift. If you’re faking your calmness but not really feeling it. You might be close but just not in gear yet. When you’re in that inner peace calm. You know that things are coming your way. The Universe has your back and you will not fall into that panic freaked out state.

By being in that inner peace of calm, you are staying grounded so that you can accept the good things that will be manifesting soon in your life. This calm is a guidance that your on the right path. When you lose this calm for longer than a day or two. Back track to see where you lost that calm feeling? When your fearful, your on the wrong path or you might have missed your turn on the road.

It’s harder to make changes for the positive when you’re in chaos mode. You will notice more of what you didn’t want coming into being. Even if you have to go to a library to find that calm or a museum. The pay off is worth it! By having more and more moments of calm in your life it will allow you to start to shift the things in your life more easily.

When your committed to healthier changes, you will start to see doors opening up to you that were closed before. In some cases it will be like pebbles showing you the path that you weren’t able to see before. Once you’ve reached one goal it will seem as if more steps building upon each other to get you to the next goal if its achievable in a short time? I say achievable, because if you need to learn more things to reach the next step. It might seem as if the next step is just a little bit out of reach.

Once you are ready for more and more steps the changes will fall into place a lot more easily. Pay attention to the details, each goal might have more or fewer steps. Sometimes, it’s all about the journey and not the destination. Things that can seem as if they are failures might be the stepping-stones we needed to show us that we didn’t really want that path at all.

Sometime Spirits Message Takes Awhile To Catchup

Tonight I was thinking about a very weird spiritual experience I had in my early twenties. It was around 4 am, because all the fun things happen around that time. I was in bed sleeping and when I felt my hair blowing and standing on edge. I could feel this arctic cold blast of air blowing. The thing was, this air was coming from an inside wall. I remember becoming fully awake and being terrified of where this air was blowing from. I tried to breathe as quietly as possible. My hair was blowing and standing on edge. I had goose bumps on my air with fear.

I remember hearing in my head the golden key. Hears where the real irony comes in. In 2006 I renamed my business from Tarot by Penny to Raven Hawke. I renamed it because I was adding healing to my business. I also kept seeing a raven and hawk together over and over. I took this as a sign to be the new name for my business. I soon had to think of a mission statement. I then decided to name it “Spiritual Change for Positive Growth”. For whatever reason, I decided to look up what the golden key meant.  There are several stories and meanings. It is very ironic that two stories each have a part of the mission statement.

Who knew, I’d name it after different aspects of the golden key? I had a similar experience with one of my paintings. In 2015 I was painting Nefertiti in water colors. I couldn’t think how to spell her name at the time when I was titleing the painting; so I just settled on signing it Beauty. Later when I looked up her name, it means beauty.

I will say that being on a spiritual journey is never dull. It will be challenging and you will sometimes wish you had a manual. This journey is unique to you and you alone. That’s why sometimes our paths are meant to be walked alone. This is about getting to know yourself and knowing Spirit on a personal level. These are things, that religion can never truly teach you.

Your are never being judged on this journey! There is no pass/fail? This is your personal journey to allow yourself to grow and learn. There is no right or wrong decision-making. It is about getting more comfortable in your own skin. It is making the best decisions at the time for you. After all who else could you be? This is your journey and it does not ask permission or acceptance. It is about making it the best journey for you. It’s about finding peace within yourself.

What will you be giving up?

This time of year people think of it as a time to make a sacrifice in their life. Why not think of it as a time to purge the things or people who you’ve out grown. It might be a time to stop allowing people to dump their drama all over your life.

Yes, life happens and there are unexpected events that occur beyond our control. There are also cause and effect dramas that are not beyond Peoples control too. Instead of trying to solve everyone’s problems. See if they can’t start learning from their mistakes. These are the one’s that they caused all by themselves.

Think of it almost as parenting skills to allow a person to find their own solutions on their own journey in life. Sometimes life gets really dirty and messy too. No one learns anything when people are constantly rescuing them from themselves.

This is not to say that you shouldn’t be emotionally supportive when life throws a person a curve ball that no one expected. Sometimes these lessons are a test to help a person learn new skills or to make them emotionally stronger to survive a future event.  This does not mean the person is a bad person and that’s why these things happened to them.

Just remember everything that you’ve learned is never a waste of time. You will use it in some capacity in the future to help yourself or others.

Sometimes it companies or services that we’re forced to use that are causing us unnecessary stress and drama. If it’s a company that you work for? Maybe its time to look for a different position either inside or outside of that company. If it’s a service, you always have the right to refuse to use it. There is nothing worse than a service that consistently is not meeting it’s promises.

Caller Id like voice mail is designed as a tool to weed out unnecessary calls. Weed out is the key word here. If your goal is to have more peace in your life your going to have to weed that garden sometime. You will be amazed at how much more peaceful and enjoyable your life becomes.

Happiness

Happiness has been touted as something outside of one’s self . It tries to get us to believe that we are these helpless victims and that if we’re lucky we will find happiness. What a bunch of crap!

I recently had a client, who really believed that he needed this one person to complete him and find happiness. If this client had been a woman, people would describe this as the prince charming trap. A lot of religions promote this mentality as well. This is why so many people are unhappy.

Part of learning about happiness is about learning about yourself! Who you are? Who you are not? Who do you want to be? Learning that being selfish can in fact be a very good thing, it helps you set up boundaries! It helps you to say no to things that you don’t want to do. It help you to grow and discover new things. It helps you to take back your personal power!

I always get a kick out of people who freak out over Tarot decks. The two cards they usually go nuts over are the Devil  and the Death card. The Devil is the best one to get, it usually reminds you that you need to stop giving away your personal power and stop playing the starring role as the victim! It’s about set boundaries, be it with family, friends or co-workers. It actually gets you to finally participate in your own life. It helps you to move out of being stuck and unhappy. It allows you to let go of friends that aren’t where you’re at right now. This is in no way a rejection or a judgement on them. If your paths are meant to cross in the future they will.

Now to the Death card, people always assume this card means that someone is going to die! Well yes and no! It is the ending of how they’re life has been up to this point. It is the new beginning for how they want to move they’re life forward.  Examples: Single person is getting married. It is the death of they’re single life and the beginning of they’re married life. The Death card is a blessing since it means that there is a new beginning coming.

Happiness is within all of us, it was never outside of us. I’m not going to say this is a mind-set. It is actually about self discovery and uncovering or pulling back the layers on yourself and finding those great things about yourself that you love and like. This is not about someone’s opinion of your or they’re judgement of you. They don’t get to have a say in this! Why? Because this is not they’re life! If your constantly surrounded by people who tear you apart or toxic people. You might need to start cleaning house. Caller Id is our best friend and so is voice mail, start screening those calls. These are the best ways to get rid of toxic people if your lousy at boundaries.

You will start to notice the more these people aren’t in your life, the better you start to feel. You will finally find out what it feels like to be calm. Most people find out that they’re less depressed. Once you find that calmness and inner peace you will never let someone take that from you again. Surprise that is what happiness is! Being at peace with yourself whether you have someone in your life or not. It about not having Drama in your face 24 x 7.

Unfortunately, they didn’t do a movie about this! Why? It wouldn’t sell! So start taking life one day at a time and start seeing how you start to feel. Oh and be sure to hit the off button on the cell phone it allows for sometime to yourself that you’re not being tracked down by the electronic age.

Following the Peace

In 2006, I was tired of the Drama and stressful feelings of working in the corporate world.

Tired of co-workers that didn’t know how to do their jobs properly. Not because they weren’t capable but because no one took the time to train them in properly. Exhausted from the jealousy, when I was nominated for an award for helping a department beat their deadlines.

The childish games that are played in the corporate world can be never-ending.

I started to key into more and more of the peaceful feeling. I made a decision to finally pursue my goal of getting my masters in the paranormal. I started that program in 2007 and knew my life would be changing. I got more and  more at peace. I loved the days that I didn’t have to work. I would dread the days that I knew I would have to return to work.

As I was getting closer to completing my program. My job finally fell away. I felt so at peace.  My former boss was sad to be losing me. Inside I was doing my personal happy dance. I was looking forward to being able to serve my clients more. I have never been this calm and at peace before  in my life

Nature

One of the most healing things is nature. It is the best form of meditation. There are messages everywhere.

Pay attention to the insects or animals you see. They all have a message for you. My guides were on me to take a break and to take a walk in nature again. I saw martins, I didn’t even know we had these great little birds in our state.  I stood about three ft away as they balanced on golden rod trying to eat the flowers. There were acorns that crunched under my shoes. I decided to pickup two of the acorns for my faery collection. I also found another acorn that still had its cap attached so I picked that one up as well.

The weather was sunny but not hot. It was the perfect temperature. I got to enjoy the trail as I walked along. I got to lose myself in the walk. This is my perfect time with nature.  I decided to finally stop, when I found a large boulder to sit on. I think I sat there for about 10 min. I enjoyed looking at the mighty large oak trees all around. They created a beautiful canopy.

Finally I decided it was time to go back. On my way back on the trail. A runner had quietly snuck up on me and I jumped when he was about to pass me. It was amazing how quiet and peaceful it was. I had forgotten how much I missed being there.

When was the last time you took time for yourself?
