Clutter

Clutter can suck the energy out of any room. It starts out little and then starts to grow and grow. It’s one of those things that you have to stay on top of or it will start making you feel more and more tired. I know I had this situation that in my kitchen. It took me about six years to get rid of junk drawers. Once I started getting rid of things the energy was more energized. I still go through more and more things. Sometimes I will tackle a stack of papers, other times I’ll make a game out of it by setting the timer.

Because we have recycling that comes through our neighborhood it is a great excuse to get rid of those clothes that serve no purpose. They’re comfortable and holey and we’re a little too comfortable to throw them away. This gives me many chances to get rid of them. Recycling is once a week just like the garbage. Even if I miss one round of it going to the recycling as rags it will always give me another chance next week. I had at one point toyed with the idea of making sock puppets but I made sure to nip that in the bud.

I am currently going through clothes that are good enough to be donated to charities. The reason I give to a charity instead of a consignment shop is that this way. I’m guaranteed that it will make it out of the house and it’s not coming back. If using a consignment shop works for you, than stay with it. I just know myself too well. This is my tough love for me.
